Lake Wohlford is tentatively scheduled to re-open for boating on Monday May 18th. Facial coverings are required when purchasing a fishing permit or when entering or exiting the boats or boat dock area. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced within the park.

Toprotect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

The lake is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesday and Thursdays and to active military every Saturday.

The first week of shore fishing since we re-opened saw a great deal of activity with limits of catfish being caught as well as some trout. Night-crawlers were doing well for trout while chicken liver or cut mackerel are two of the most preferred baits for catfish.

Small to medium sized bass are being reported and can be found around structure. They respond well to crawdads and dark colored plastics.

A handful of nice sized Crappie have been caught from shore. Crappie are most often caught on finger jigs or live golden shiners.

Chicken liver or cut mackerel are two of the most preferred baits for catfish. Stop by the Ranger Station for a...... Read More

The trout fishing has been good following Wednesday’s plant, but an overabundance of rain and run off may put a damper on things in the coming week. Fausto Barron of Escondido had big trout honors this week with his 8.90# trout caught using rainbow powerbait on the east end of the lake. Powerbait or mousetails have been effective and no part of the lake is not producing at present. As the water becomes stained, and visibility lessens, try dipping your...... Read More
