Hello from Lake Jennings! We will be open on Christmas Day and every day until
Jan. 4th. Come try out your new gear. The best bet for making the frying pan stink is
the trout. Bait fishermen have the edge. Shadow Cove and Sentry Point are the best
bets but you need a boat. Shore anglers are hitting the concrete steps and Cactus
Patch. Crawlers are what they want. Some cats have been caught in the muddier
water in the backs of the coves but the buoyline is the best bet. Bass have been tough. 30 ft. of water on the points is where you'll find them?Ķ.
Best Trout Spots: Shadow Cove and Sentry Point.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 4 ft. leader dipped in scent and drifted down the water column using a water float.
Best Catfish Spots: The backs of the coves in muddy water (see topo) and dam buoy line.
Best Catfish Bait: Heads on shrimp have been a "secret" bait also night crawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Off the points drop-shotting in 25 to 35 ft. water.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Small Senkos, Roboworms in natural colors also Margarita Mutilator in 30 ft. worked better than everything else.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. or limits under 1 hour reported.
Prognosis: Mt. Lassen continues to add another 1,000 lbs. of trout on Tuesday of this week. Still the best chance for trout is from a boat at Shadow Cove. Rain may move the cats into the muddy water in the backs of the coves, otherwise fish deep. Open on Christmas Day and every day until Jan. 4th, 5:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Prime times for both cats and bass are 5:30 AM to 9 AM and 4:30 to dark thirty.
Water Temperature: 61 degrees on the surface.
Holiday Schedule: We will be open daily Thursday, December 25th (Christmas Day) thru Sunday, January 4th from 5:45 a.m. ??? 5:15 p.m.
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about bait fishing for trout. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Lake Jennings Fish Report
Lake JenningsHello from Lake Jennings! Most fish in the lake had lockjaw. A few nice trout came from Cactus Patch and the Hermit Cove buoy line on crawlers. Interestingly crawlers produced more cats than mackerel. Normal incoming storms will boost a bite but Sunday was the worst day of the weekend. The lake is on the rise having come up 4' in the last week. This has pulled most of the bass off the bank into 20 to 40 ft....... Read More
Lake Jennings Fish Report
Lake JenningsHello from Lake Jennings! While the trout were in the spotlight they did a lousy acting job. The best actor award went to the largemouth bass and the best supporting actor was taken by the cats. None of them gave stellar performances. The trout bite was as expected with fish scattering all over the lake. The best results came from Cloister Cove but fish were caught at Eagle Point and Siesta Cove. The bass bite remains best early and late...... Read More
