Hello from Lake Jennings! The last few weeks have had the following patterns solidify. The bass for the most part are stacked up on the points. Drop-shotting worms or Ikas in 30 ft. of water are your best bet. Shadow Cove remains the most productive spot for trout. Hermit Cove and Cactus Patch are hit and miss. A few trollers are getting limits trolling crawlers but it takes 8 hours to do it. The quarry is the best spot for cats though the buoy line is just OK.
Best Trout Spots: Shadow Cove and Cactus Patch.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 4 ft. leader dipped in scent and drifted down the water
column using a water float.
Best Catfish Spots: The quarry off of Sentry Point (see topo) and dam buoy line.
Best Catfish Bait: Night Crawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Off the points drop-shotting in 25 to 35 ft. water.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Green and brown worms in 30 ft worked better than everything else.
Notables: Saturday, Ashley Kay, 11 yrs. old, El Cajon, 4-0 rainbow, Chartreuse Power Bait, Shadow Cove.
Prognosis: Mt Lassen continues to add another 1,000 lbs. of trout on Tuesday of this week. Still the best
chance for trout is from a boat at Shadow Cove. Cats require that you fish deep. Open on Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday, 5:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Prime times for both cats and bass are 5:30 AM to 9 AM and 4:30 to
dark thirty.
Water Temperature: 65-66 degrees on the surface.
Current Schedule: We will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:45 a.m. ??? 5:15 p.m.
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about bait fishing for trout. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.
