November 16, 2008 For Immediate Catch and Release

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The notables will make it seem like fishing was great but in reality it was bubkes! You either caught a big one or nothing and mostly it was nothing. The trout were caught on bait. The few cats that were caught came to mackerel. The lake rose 3 ft. last week and totally confused what the bass wanted.

Best Trout Spots: Cactus Patch and Shadow Cove, kind of.
Best Trout Lures / Bait: Inflated crawlers on a 4 ft. leader dipped in scent.

Best Cat Spots: The dam buoyline.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Off the points dropshotting in 25 to 35 ft. water.
Best Bass Lures /bait: Margarita Mutilator 4" worms, Ikas and 7" Senkos.

Water Temp. 68 to 70 degrees on surface.

Notables: Tues., camper J.R. Raguindin, National City, 12-0 channel cat, Sentry Point, Mackerel/chicken liver combo. Fri., Jerad Jerauld, La Mesa, 11-4 cat, mackerel, Buoyline. Sat., Matty, Davis, age 7, El Cajon, 1-7 and 2-7 rainbows, pink Power Bait, Hermit Cove. Sat., Fred Cooke, El Cajon, 4-4 trout, inflated crawler, Shadow Cove. Sat., Linda Lohoefener, La Mesa 4-4 channel cat, mackerel, Half Moon Cove. Sun., Sean Wilson, San Diego, 2-7 rainbow, inflated crwler, Hermit buoyline. Son Zach and father Salim Sawaya, El Cajon, 5 trout @ 11-5, inflated crawlers, Cactus Patch.

Prognosis: Mt Lassen will add another 1000 lbs. of trout on Tuesday of this week. The best chance for trout is from a boat around the Cactus Patch and Shadow Cove. Cats will be deep until we get some runoff or March. Whichever comes first. Open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 5:45 AM to 5:15 PM. Prime times for both cats and bass are 5:30 AM to 9 AM and 4:30 to dark thirty.

The Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will be teaching bait fishing for trout at 1 PM on Sunday.
