Permit and Boat Rentals are sold at the Ranger Station. We do not sell fishing licenses, bait, or tackle, so anglers must acquire these essentials items elsewhere prior to their visit. All day motor boats are discounted to $20 for seniors (60+) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and for active military every Saturday.

Due to the threat of Quagga mussels, there is a ban on private water craft and equipment. Restricted equipment includes; private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Largemouth Bass can be found lurking around structure. They are hitting on crawdads, crankbaits, and dark colored plastics.

The next and final catfish plant of the season takes place next Friday. Catfish are biting throughout the lake, but Oakvale Cove is doing better than average. Lake Wohlford cats prefer chicken liver or cut mackerel.
Crappie are being caught by boaters trolling for them. Crappie are most often caught using live golden shiners or finger jigs.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
