Hello from Lake Jennings! We had a lot of worms drown. A lot of mackerel soaked
and few chickens donated their livers. A few anglers did very well most did not.
The area around the boat dock and the sunken quarry off of Sentry Point were the hot
spots. The rest of the lake found the cats being finicky and uncooperative. The bass
were not much better. Dawn and dusk topwater tossers average a fish apiece and a
sore arm. A few crappie and redears were caught by accident.
Best Trout Spots: None
Best Trout Lures/Bait: None
Best Catfish Spots: Cloister Cove the Sentry quarry and anywhere there is brush.
Best Catfish Bait: Nightcrawlers are really working well or mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Dawn and dusk tight on the bank. Daylight finds them in 20 to 30 ft. off the points chasing shad.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Frogs, Pop R's and 4" pumpkin senkos or shad worms.
Notables: No limits under 30 minutes or fish over 3 lbs. reported.
Prognosis: The lake will continue to warm driving our bass closer to the surface, our cats to the shallows and crappie under the fishing float. The best bet appears to be fish bass with topwater 5:30 to 7:00 AM. Bass Assassins until 8:30 AM. Redears in the back of the coves with wax worms, meal worms or 1" pieces of crawlers. Then concentrate on the cats from 6:00 to 9:30 PM.
Water Temperature: 76-78 degrees.
Current Night Fishing Schedule: We will be open Friday from 5:00 p.m. ??? 12:00 a.m., Saturday from 5:30 a.m. ??? 12:00 a.m. and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. ??? 8:30 p.m.
Discounted Sunday Boat Rental: We have a twilight special for our motorboats. After 4:00PM on Sundays, motorboats can be rented for $20.00. That gives you over 4 hours of primetime fishing.
FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about fishing cats. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Lake JenningsHello from Lake Jennings! Contrarians had the most success this weekend for bass and cats. The back end of Eagle Cove and Shadow Cove each produced double limits of cats while the old standby's Hermit Cove and Siesta Cove were spotty. A very effective strategy for bass was beating the brush with topwater stuff right at dawn and dusk. Best Trout Spots: Middle of the lake. Best Trout Lures/Bait: Nightcrawlers drifted about 40 to 80 feet down. Best Catfish Spots: The bird trees, Shadow and...... Read More
