Hello from Your Lake Jennings: The trout bite has moved closer to shore. Lures like Kastmasters are starting to work for shore casters but the trollers are smelling skunks. The bass are wishy-washy. A few bass came from the bank. A few bass came from the flats. Some could be seen suspended but no sustainable pattern developed. Channel cats are in Hermit Cove and being caught by bassers throwing plastics and crawdads. The buoyline at Shadow Cove casting towards the dam is producing cats.

Best trout spots: Eagle Point, Cactus Patch and Half Moon Cove.
Best trout bait: Chartreuse Power Bait or inflated crawlers fished with a water float.
Best trout lures: silver Kastmasters

Best cat spots: Dam buoy line and Hermit Cove.
Best cat bait: Bring chicken livers or we have mackerel and fish deep.

Best Bass Spots: Close to shore on the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait: brown and black jigs and Ikas.
Notables: Sat., Mike Franklin, El Cajon, 4-0 largemouth, Senko, Shadow Cove.

Prognosis: I have asked Mt. Lassen to add some Vaseline to the truck water so that we can squeeze in another 1200 lbs. of trout on Tuesday. Based upon the weather forecast and the waxing moon I expect to see more bass moving up on the banks towards the end of next weekend. I would also expect the cats to move into a prespawn move and bite more aggressively though they will be less concentrated.

Lake Jennings Fishing University free fishing classes will be covering bait fishing and Trout Teaser minijigs for trout. This Sunday at 1:00 PM.

Less exciting was the fishing overall. The bass bite was a very early and very late affair. No swimbait fish reported. The trout were decidedly more difficult even though Mt....... Read More

Hello from Your Lake Jennings: Lest we forget we will be open Monday, Presidents Day. ??? The bass are starting to move. We had 2 reports from trout anglers of big bass attacking their trout as they were bringing them in. The trout bite became more scattered with Half Moon Cove providing some action. Overall the trout bite was fair and trolling remains a zero. The most consistent bite is the cats at the buoyline. Best trout spots: Cactus Patch and...... Read More
