Launch Conditions: PRIVATE WATER CRAFTS ARE CURRENTLY BANNED
Lake Wohlford is only open on weekends until we return to a 7-day a week schedule starting December 15. In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is a temporary ban on private water craft and private equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment now includes boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, etc.
Lake Wohlford came through the recent fires untouched and will be open weekends as usual.
Catfish action has been decent with some nice limits of Channel Cats hitting shrimp and peanut butter/bread. Jim Smith of Vista caught the largest Catfish this past week. Jim landed a 13#0 Catfish which hit Chicken Liver at the West Buoy Line.
The Bass are in the shallow waters and are still biting. Senko worms, Swim bait lures, and plastic worms have been working best. Clemet Miner of Escondido caught and released a 6#10 Bass that nailed a Senko worm near Crappie Rock. Josh Gordon of Escondido caught and released a 4#4 Bass that struck a Crawdad off the South Shore Rockpile.
Each month, Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For further information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
