Hello from your Lake Jennings!

Catfish are still being caught all around the lake from sunrise to late night. The Night Fishing continues for the rest of September, but the number of channel cats stocked combined with our existing population will last year round. On top of that, historically the catfishing steps up a level in September, and that's one of the biggest reasons for the extended night fishing season. Many of you over the past several years commented on how good the catfishing starts to get just when the season ends, so here's your opportunity to come out and get 'em for the rest of the month.

Lake Jennings has one more stocking for this season that will occur mid-month. Please remember that Lanterns are required to be at the lake after dark.

The redear and bluegill continue to bite with limits caught over the weekend. Realize that a limit is 25 fish. Not every place around the lake will produce these numbers, and you will need to work for them, but check out the information provided below for some tips.

The bass bite continues to be fair to good with several boils spotted in the early morning. I took a ride around the lake over the weekend and spotted several bass on the move with the lake water level being brought down. The lake will drop more on and off until October. With the drop, everything is on the move.

Keep on the lookout for the announcement of the change to the upcoming trout season. Hopefully you will be as excited as we are!!

Lake Jennings Campground continues to draw in campers from all over and if you haven't made your reservation yet don't wait any longer. If you like to have your camping experience a bit less occupied then come out during the week from Sunday through Thursday.

Notables:
The "Catch of the Week" goes out to:
Siesta Cove: Glenn Darden of San Diego caught two very nice catfish. One at 2 pounds and the other at 3 pounds. Glenn was fishing with mealworms.

Half Moon: Unknown but I personally watched these guys bring them in one after another. They had planned on leaving hours early but just couldn't break away. The bait of choice was red worms.

Hello from your Lake Jennings! Catfish this Labor Day weekend started off very strong and continued through the weekend with several limits caught. Lake Jennings stocked 2,000 pounds last week, and we still have more to come this September. Typically, the bite gets better just as we end the night fishing season. You now have the opportunity to continue fishing at night for a month longer, until the end of September. Lanterns are required when visiting the lake after dark. The Redear...... Read More
