Hello from your Lake Jennings!
The bass and cat bite was decent not great. Cats were in the usual spots like the backs of coves and the bird trees. A few of the guardian male bass are along the shore. Some of those are taking surface stuff right at dusk. During the day try the points dropshotting 4 ??" to 6" plastics in 30' to 50' of water.

Best Catfish Spots: The Coves and Bird Trees
Best Catfish Bait: Nightcrawlers and Mackerel
Best Bass Spots: Points in 30' to 50' of water and the riprap bordering the launch ramp and Eagle Point. See GPS for that spot.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Flylined nightcrawlers for the guardian males, Senko's and a dropshot with morning dawn worms.
Best Trout Spots: None
Best Trout Bait: The bait that catches the most trout is nightcrawlers trolled down 5 to 6 colors. Don't count on limits even though the water temp. is 67 degrees at the 30' to 50' range.

Prognosis: The channel cats have moved into the shallows. Cast into brush and you'll get either a bass or a cat. When we cruise the shoreline we see a lot of cats in less than 5 ft. of water. The next 2 weeks will probably be your last chance for trout. Fish deep water off the fishing float or use a boat in the same area.

Water Temperature: 72 degrees on surface

Both anglers and those out to enjoy a packed dinner came in all throughout the night. The view of the lanterns on boats and on shore was spectacular. The lake opened...... Read More

Hello from your Lake Jennings! Starting next week it is that time of year that we anglers get the opportunity to fish until midnight. Lake Jennings season is longer than any other lake in San Diego County - from May 17th until Labor Day Weekend. Most of us equate night fishing with catfish but guess what? The bass feed at night too! Cats were caught at the bird trees but not by everyone. Night crawlers are the preferred bait. Cast as...... Read More
