Catfish action is picking up nicely with limits of Channel Cats hitting night crawlers, chicken liver, and cut Mackerel. This season's first Catfish plant has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 27, when we will be stocking 2,000 pounds of nice-sized Channel Catfish. Dan Novak of Fallbrook landed a 15#8 Catfish that struck a 4" Roboworm west of Senior Shoreline, and Conner Kirby of Ramona caught a 5#4 Catfish on Stink Bait off the South Shore Rockpile.
Decent-sized Crappie in 10-15 feet of water are still being found in Boat Dock Cove. Small golden shiners and small finger jigs work best to attract them. Salt and Pepper and yellow/white jigs are the colors that have been working best. Flor Abena of San Diego caught another 25 fish Crappie limit on Salt & Pepper Jigs in Boat Dock Cove.
Trout action is now over (one month earlier than usual) due to unseasonably warm water temperatures and low dissolved oxygen levels in Wohlford.
The Bass are in the shallow waters and are still biting. The shad move in tight to the bank in the early morning, so shad-looking lures are the best ticket to success then. Sinko lures, Swim bait lures, and plastic worms work well later in the day. The Oakvale store is now carrying live Golden Shiners for bait! Live Shiners work very well as bait for both Bass and Crappie at Lake Wohlford.
