Hello from Your Lake Jennings: There was a hot, hot catfish bite on Friday. Saturday it was less hot and Sunday it was lukewarm. The bass moved off the bank again and they refuse to bite topwater. Texas rigged 12" worms fished in 20 to 30 ft. of water were the best producers. There were even a few trout caught by mackerel soakers.
Best cat spots: Hermit, Cloister and Siesta Coves and the cormorant trees.
Best cat bait: Bring mackerel and night crawlers. Fish shallow near vegetation.
Best Bass Spots: Dusk on the bank, daytime bass are stacked up in 40 ft. of water on the points.
Best Bass Lures /bait: 12" Texas rigged black worms. Flylined nightcrawlers.
Water Temp: 75 degrees
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour reported.
Prognosis: We will be planting 1000 lbs. cats this week. This should sweeten the night bite. We have hired a fortune teller to tell us when the bass bite will improve. She says that she will consult with the spirits and get back to us. ( I think we just wasted $ 5.00)
Lake Jennings Free Fishing University will talk about fishing catfish. 1PM Sunday.

Lake JenningsHello from Your Lake Jennings: The bass are so tight to the bank at night that if your cast is 2 ft. from shore you don't get bit. If you drag your lure off the bank you get bit. Daytime has the bass suspended in deeper water to 40 ft. The cats turned difficult. Probably 900 lbs out of the original 1000 still prowl the lake. Shallow is best for the kitties. Redears are on the beds but a...... Read More

Lake JenningsHello from Your Lake Jennings: We are calling this our Xerox report because there are only 2 changes from last week! Our night fishing started with a bang on Friday and then fizzled. The catfish bit well in Hermit, Siesta and Cloister Coves but developed lockjaw on Saturday. Bass were more difficult. The much awaited topwater bite still has us waiting. Most of the bass are in 30 to 40 ft. of water with their lips sewn shut....... Read More
