Last Plant:
1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Thursday August 11th.
Next Plant:
Trout in December.
Water Temperature:
At surface 78.08 f., 8.84 D.O. @ 20' 76.46 f., 1.24 D.O.
Water level:
Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
Lake Wohlford will remain closed on weekdays until December and the start of trout season.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The bass fishing continues to be excellent. Three good sized bass were weighed in last weekend. Carlos Rincon of Vista presumably fishing for catfish weighed in an eight pound bass he caught on chicken liver on Senior Shoreline. Chad Peloquin of Fallbrook caught and released a 7.60# fish on crankbait at Bass Point. Finally Clement Miner caught and released 5.80# bass on crankbait in Boat Dock Cove.. Bass can be found near rock piles especially in the morning and late afternoons. Dark colored plastics do particularly well.
The fishing for catfish continues to be slow. Stop by the ranger station for a doughbait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.
