The catfish fishing has been good and should improve this week with the most recent plant. The best baits for catfish are cut mackerel or chicken liver and either end of the lake is a good location. Stop by the ranger station for a doughbait recipe that works well for both catfish and carp.

Bass fishing is best in the early morning and late afternoons. Thomas Janenko of Vista improved his chances of winning the whopper contest with an even larger catch than that of the week before. Mr. Janenko's bass which he released weighed 8.10# and was hooked using crankbait off Bass Point early Thursday morning. Shad raps, crawdads, and dark colored plastics are all good baits. Bass can be found lurking near submerged rock piles.<
BR> Crappie are being caught almost exclusively in the early mornings. Crappie are most often caught using small jigs or live golden shiners. It has been an excellent year for bluegill, which have been both larger and more plentiful.
