Hello from your Lake Jennings. Eagle Point and the concrete steps were hot
shore spots but boaters hammered the trout between Eagle and Sentry Points. Just about every lure produced fish.
Little Cleos, orange Rapalas, orange Power Worms. We are open tomorrow on Martin Luther
King Day so you can tap into the trout.
Best Trout Spots: Eagle point was better than Cactus Patch. Sentry Point also kicked out some limits.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Rainbow Power Bait on 2 ft. leaders moved constantly or Little Cleos, orange Rapalas, orange Power Worms, Rebel Teeny Crawdads. You would only hooked up on every 5th strike but strikes averaged 20 per hour.
Best Catfish Spots: The buoyline off Eggert Point and Hermit Cove.
Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots:None.
Water Temp: 59 degrees on surface.
Notables: Don Belchamber of Alpine Ca. had his limit by 9:00 a.m. at Lake Jennings on his late father's, Danny Belchamber's Garcia Mitchell 304 and pole. Danny limited out his last trip to Jennings with the same pole a year ago. Using his dad's equipment is his way of honoring the man that took him fishing. He fishes the lakes that he and his dad did.
Prognosis: We will again stock 1000 lbs of Sierra Bows on Tuesday. The trout fishing should be very good. We start seeing bass move into the shallows when the slimy green filaments algae starts growing. January and February are the best times to get big bass on swim baits.
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about trout. Most importantly, the classes are free. Ranger Hugh will be the professor. Lake Jennings Campground now has WiFi at every campsite.
