Hello from your Lake Jennings. The trout were the stars this weekend. Friday and Saturday were best. The bite slowed on Sunday. Some trolled fish on crawlers and Rapalas. Kastmasters thrown from shore also produced fish but not limits. No big cats were caught but enough smaller ( 1 to 2lb.) to make it worthwhile if you did not like trout. The bass seemed to like baits on the bottom. Ikas, jigs and big worms in 35 to 45 ft. of water. No ice jig fish reported.
Best Trout Spots: Eagle point was better than Cactus Patch.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Inflated crawlers on 3 to 4 ft. leaders moved constantly.
Best Cat Spots: The buoyline off Eggert Point.
Best Cat Bait: Mackerel and nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Fish the weeds on all the points.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads Ikas, jigs and big worms.
Water Temp: 62 degrees on surface.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 30 min.
Prognosis: We will again stock 1000 lbs of Sierra 'Bows on Wednesday. Bring crawdads if you want bass. The cats will continue to bite if you fish deep water.
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about trout. Most importantly, the classes are free. Ranger Hugh will be the professor. Lake Jennings Campground now has WiFi at every campsite. Lake JenningsHello from your Lake Jennings. Another big blue cat, 55-7, was caught at the buoyline by Jerad Jerauld on Fri.. The trout bite started out reel (sic) good on Thursday and Friday at the Cactus Patch but fizzled Saturday. Sunday is not showing any improvement. Trolling continues to be a boat ride only! Rising lake levels have some bass moving up into 15 ft. of water, but these are generally 1 to 2 pound fish....... Read More
