Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked this week. The next stocking will be the week of December 15th. We will continue to stock Rainbow Trout through April. In sum, we will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season with some additional stockings from DFW.
What’s the Catch? The trout bite is strong with cooler temps settling in. Anglers are finding the best success in Hermit and Siesta Cove, as well as the shoreline near big rock. They’re hitting on powerbait in rainbow, chartreuse, or salmon peach. Nightcrawlers floated off the bottom have also been reported. Trout are cruising shallow early in the morning, then moving deeper as the sun comes up. Long casts are paying off from shore. Most bass are staging around rocky points and drop offs. We had one 10 lb. 14 oz. bass caught off of Sentry Point this week on a swimbait. Don’t sleep on the panfish bite this time of year! Panfish will also bite on Powerbait and pieces of nightcrawler. Grab a boat and head into the back of Half Moon Cove to score Redear or Bluegill.
Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.
Conditions: The current water temperature is 69 degrees. The aerator has been turned off for the season. The days are getting shorter with the sun rising at 7:04 a.m. and setting at 5:59 p.m.
