Catfish Season: The last trout stocking of 1,500 pounds was the week of April 15th. Catfish Opener is Memorial Day weekend where 1,500 pounds of Channel Catfish from Alpine Fishery will be stocked. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked this season. With catfish season comes night fishing! The lake will be open on Friday and Saturday until midnight beginning May 24th.

What’s the Catch? The trout bite is still on fire with multiple reports of limits coming off of the t-dock and by boat. We also had reports of trout limits in Half Moon Cove on nightcrawlers. Try dangling a ‘crawler 10 feet below a bobber. Sounds like the trout are still sticking to the the deeper channels. Gold Rapalas and spoons were also reeling them in. The Bluegill bite is picking up especially in Half Moon Cove. Try pinching off a piece of nightcrawler and putting a split shot about 18” above the hook on 2-6 pound test. No reports of bass this weekend. The catfish will be out for night fishing on Saturday. The shop is stocked with mackerel, dip baits, and garlic shrimp. Full sized lanterns are required after sunset.

Conditions: With the water draw, be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. See details about the lake draw above. The current water temperature at the surface is around 67 degrees. We’ve begun aerating the lake, so the water temps will start to stabilize throughout the water column. The sun is rising at 5:53 a.m. and setting at 7:36 p.m.
