The beginning of trout season is about six weeks away. We will re-open for weekday fishing at that time. We need to wait until December in order to give the water enough time to cool down for the cold-water fish to thrive in its new environment.

Fall is a time of increased feeding for the catfish. As they prepare for winter, they become more voracious and less discriminating. Despite being open only on the weekends many of our biggest catfish are caught during this time. Lake Wohlford cats prefer chicken liver, shrimp, or cut mackerel.

Black Crappie can be caught in the early mornings or late afternoons. They prefer the cover of shadows in which to hide. They are most often caught on mini- jigs or live golden shiners.

Florida Largemouth Bass can be found lurking around structure. They respond to swimbaits, crankbaits, and dark colored plastics
