  • Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of trout the week of January 10th. The next stocking of 1,500 pounds will go into the lake next week for a total of 10,000 pounds so far. We're at the halfway point of stocking! A total of 20,000 pounds will go into the lake this trout season. For a complete stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? Cactus Patch and Hermit Cove were the best locations for catching trout this weekend. They were lured by inflated 'crawlers, powerbait, and mini jigs. Our rangers say that sometimes the most effective method of catching trout is getting back to basics. You'll catch more trout with a small hook (size 12, 14, 16) and lighter line like 4-6 pound test. Power nuggets and eggs mimic what the trout eat at the hatchery, so have those handy too. We see and receive reports of trout all over the lake, so there's no one area that is better than others. Just find a secluded shoreline and cast about 20-30 feet. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is a cool 60 degrees optimal for rainbow trout. The sun has been rising around 6:50 a.m. each morning and setting around 4:50 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Moonlight Fishing: The moon, the water, the fish! Does it get any better? We'll be open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12th for Moonlight Fishing. Full sized lanterns required after 5:00 p.m. The entrance gate will close at 8:00 p.m. Boat launches and rentals will be available.
  • Lakefront Firepit Rentals: Bring your special someone for a cozy cuddle under the stars by the campfire! On Saturday, February 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., firepits will be available for rent in Hermit Cove. Rentals include wood, firestarter, and Adirondack chairs. One of our rangers will stand by with help lighting and extinguishing fires as needed. Advanced reservations required. Reserve your firepit HERE.
  • Eagle Report: At last count, we've seen a total of 3 eagles at the lake-two juveniles and one adult. Although sometimes we see two adults, so there may be another one that visits occasionally. They've been spotted mostly perched on the western end of the lake and particularly around the trees and telephone poles near the dam. Please remember that there is no stopping on the dam or campground road. The best way to get pictures is to park your car on Harritt Road and walk in.
  • Campground: We're looking for Volunteers Park Hosts to live and work in our campground! Exchange a minimum of 20 hours of labor per week including weekends and holidays for a campsite that includes water and electricity. Park Hosts greet and assist campers to ensure they have an enjoyable stay in our campground. If you're interested in this position, go to Helix Water District's career page
