Hello from your Lake Jennings! It was brutally hot this weekend. The catfish bite was similarly hot ONLY if you fished from a boat in deep water. It was so good that dockhand Matt Ryan used pizza crust leftover from a staff meeting to take 5 cats in the 1 to 2lb range. The bass are suspended. A swimming jig in 50 ft. of water is about your only hope. On the rare occasion there will be a 30 sec. bass attack on the surface but by the time you pick up your rod they are gone.

Best Catfish Spots: The dam buoyline and Hermit Cove bouyline.
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: None.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: None.

Notables: No fish over 3 lbs or limits under 1 hour.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. We are rapidly approaching the end of night fishing. The last weekend is the Labor Day weekend. Looking back at late August and early September reports we found a good catfish bite. Better than any time in the summer. By the way Lake Jennings Campground now has Wi-Fi at every campsite.

Water Temperature: 81 degrees on the surface.

Current Schedule: We'll be open this Friday from 5:00 p.m. - Midnight, Saturday from 5:30 a.m. - Midnight, Sunday from 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m., and Monday from 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Upcoming Holiday: Remember, we'll be open on Labor Day (Monday, September 7th)!

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!

Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about cat fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Hello from your Lake Jennings! The cat bite busted loose with several larger cats in the 6 to 12 lb. range. Unfortunately the owner of the best stringer did not want to give up his name, rank or serial number. Other anglers said he was at the Hermit Cove buoyline. There was one constant. The cats are in 30 ft. and deeper water. Bass continue to be conspicuous by their absence. Red ears are also moving deeper and have become difficult to locate and catch. Best...... Read More

Hello from Lake Jennings! The summer doldrums continue to frustrate us and our anglers. The bite for cats got worse even though 1,000 lbs of cats were planted Friday morning. Sunday morning around 8:30 there was a decent bite back in Hermit Cove but only if you had crawlers. The bass continue to be difficult and if topwater is your thing fugetaboutit. Fishing deep or trolling leadcore. This could change when we start dropping the water level. That gets the crawdads on the move and...... Read More
