Saturday Report

  • The San Diego ended their Full Day with 112 Yellowtail for 31 anglers. A 25-30 pound flyline setup, fluorocarbon leader and a #2 hook is the hot setup.
  • The New Seaforth continues to have solid Rockfish action on their half day trips. A nice mix of 50 Assorted Rockfish, 19 Vermillion Rockfish and 13 Whitefish and 1 Sculpin for a light load of only 29 anglers was reported for today's AM trip. The Half Day PM trip had an even better count of 130 Assorted Rockfish, 10 Vermillion Rockfish, 40 Whitefish and 20 Sculpin for an even lighter load of 20 anglers! Take a Half Day Trip soon and take advantage of the good bottom fishing and possible light passenger loads!
  • !!!UPDATE!!! The Tribute reported in from their 1.5 Day Trip with 68 Yellowtail & 2 Bluefin @ 145 & 195 pounds. These Bluefin were caught on our 80lb rental gear with a 300g Flatfall style jig. Captain Mike reports great sign of fish and excellent weather. Captain Mike just reported that the Bluefin bit well during this trip with 2 landed and 13 lost due to gear inadequate to fight these larger model Bluefin. He advised that anglers always bring or rent at least one 80lb class two-speed reel, a matching 80-130lb for trips 1.5 Days or longer. In addition re-rigging your Flatfall style jigs with upgraded hooks and a heavy leader will also increase your chances at catching a trophy Bluefin!!
