  • Stocking: We put another 1,000 pounds of catfish in the lake last week bringing our total stock up to 9,000 pounds. The last stock of 1,000 pounds will go into the lake the week of October 25th. For the time being, we will remain open for night fishing on Fridays and Saturdays. For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? With the temperatures cooling especially at night look for the catfish in the late afternoons when the surface temps have had a chance to warm a bit. They'll be actively feeding nearer to the surface before submerging to the channels especially the big cats. If you're looking to land a big fish, rent a boat and fish the channels! The stock this week made it's way to Hermit Cove by Saturday. There were reports of bites on mackerel and chicken liver. Bluegill were biting off of Cactus Patch and in Eagle Cove this weekend. They were biting on meal worms and nightcrawlers. No reports of bass this weekend, but we saw a few smaller catches on social media. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Trout Season: The first trout stocking of the season is typically in mid to late November. The water temperature must decrease to 72 degrees before our first stocking. A stocking schedule and event details on the Trout Opener will be announced in the coming weeks.
  • Carve & Catch - BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin)! We're offering a FREE FISHING PERMIT or day use access if you bring a carved pumpkin on Friday, October 22 & Friday, October 29. We'll light and display the jack-o-lanterns around the bait shop for night fishing. Pumpkins will not be returned and permits are valid for Friday night only. Help the rangers light up the lake and trick out the bait shop!
  • Fireside by the Lake: Firepits are available for rent in Hermit Cove this Friday, October 15th, 6:00-9:00 pm. Firewood, fire starter, and Adirondack chairs are provided. S'mores kits that include graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate, and roasting sticks are available for purchase. All you need to bring is a blanket and good company! To reserve a firepit, click HERE.
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is 76 degrees. The district has stopped filling the lake and the water level is high. If you are boating, be aware of trees and rocks that may be submerged near the shoreline. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Job Openings: We're hiring dockhands at the lake! We are looking for part-time dockhands to work on the dock and help care for and maintain our boat rental fleet. Must have an excellent customer service ethic and work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well as most holidays. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding this position, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page.
  • Spooky Camp-O-Ween: It's back! The last 2 weekends at the campground in October are reserved for the frightfully fun, ghoulish good times! The campground is full the first weekend of Spooky Camp-O-Ween. Campsites are available for the second weekend of October 29-31. Don't miss out on the campsite decorating contest, creepy crafts, spooky scavenger hunt, and more! Reserve your campsite today.
