  • Stocking: The catfish season opener is just a few weeks away! We've stocked up on bait, lures, and tackle in the bait shop in preparation for catfish season. We will stock a total of 10,000 pounds this season. For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? The hot spots for trout this weekend were off the t-dock and Hermit Cove buoy line. Fishermen were able to catch trout closer to the surface due to the aerator mixing the lake water and equalizing the temperature throughout the water column. The water temperature within 10 feet of the surface is 69 degrees. The bass bite was strong again this weekend. They seemed to be biting in coves all over the lake on nightcrawlers, brush hog, and shiners. The panfish bite was also good this weekend with reports of catches between 3-15 on meal worms and nightcrawlers. Hermit Cove buoy line, Cactus Patch, and Eagle Cove are always good places to fish for bluegill or sunfish. No reports of catfish bite, but there was an estimated 25 pounder hanging out around the boat dock this weekend, so they're out there!
  • WE'RE HIRING! We are currently hiring for two positions at Lake Jennings. The first is for a Assistant Recreation Ranger to provide excellent customer service by answering questions regarding fishing and boating while working in the bait and tackle shop. This position also maintains security and compliance with lake regulations on busy weekends and other duties as needed. We are also hiring an Assistant Maintenance Ranger to maintain the cleanliness and security of the campground, lake, and surrounding areas. This position patrols the facility and enforces rules and regulations in a positive manner as well as provides facility maintenance and landscape work as needed at the campground and lake. For more information about either of these positions, visit Helix Water District's careers page.
  • Fireside at the Lake: The next date to book a firepit is May 21st! The base price for a firepit is $48 for 4 people. Advanced reservations are required. Rentals include firepit, wood, firestarter, and Adirondack chairs. Ask about our add on packages! Firepits are available for single households only, 4-6 persons. For more information, call 619-596-1306.
  • Conditions: The aerator has been turned on for the season, so as the water circulates the temps in the water column will level out. Transparency is 33 feet. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
