Hello from Lake Jennings! Fishing is best described as fair for all species. The spots have not changed or the methods. The fishing float has been averaging one trout limit per day. It is the only spot on the lake to produce trout at all. The numbers are down, and no one has really figured it out. We could blame it on the moon but then our night fishing should be wide open. We could blame it on a visit by aliens in a spaceship but we have not seen one for about 5 months. If and when we figure it out we will let you know.

Best Trout Spots: The fishing float.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Power bait on a 4 ft. leader dipped in scent.

Best Catfish Spots: Bird trees, Hermit Cove, and any of the coves in the brush. Use 20 lb test and horse them out of the cover.
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Dropshotting Sentry and Eagle Points in 25 to 30 ft. Topwater at the bank.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Dropshotting 4" worms. Frogs and Pop-R's.

Notables: Sun., Carlos Navarro, National City, 16-0 channel cat, Hermit Cove, Doc's dip and mackerel.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5 PM on Friday. As long as the cool weather continues I don't expect to see a red hot bite for the warm water species but the trout will last a little longer. Try using a water float and let the worm sink slowly to catch those suspended trout.

Water Temperature: 70 to 71 degrees on surface.

Current Schedule: We'll be open this Friday from 5:00 p.m. ??? Midnight, Saturday from 5:30 a.m. ??? Midnight, and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. ??? 8:30 p.m.

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!

Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about cat fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Hello from Lake Jennings! This weekend the anglers struggled to get bit whether it was bass, cats or trout. Surprisingly, a few limits of trout came off the fishing float and Shadow Cove. The first signs of shad being chased on the surface by bass happened early mornings and a few fish were taken by topwater casting to the boils. The cats were the biggest disappointment. The back end of Hermit Cove and the bird trees were the best bet but the average there was...... Read More

Hello from Lake Jennings! The trout bite is slowly winding down. The only good spot from shore has been the fishing float. Fishing deep by boat in the middle of Half Moon and south of Eagle Point. Crawlers are outperforming Power Bait. The bass are definitely post spawn. 20 ft. clear water dictates light lines. Dropshotting the points in 25 to 35 ft. of water or frogs dragged off the bank early and late. Speaking of catfish: Night fishing starts Memorial Day weekend. Starting May 22,...... Read More
