During the autumn months we are closed weekdays. The park is tentatively scheduled to re-open for weekday fishing and general recreation beginning December 10th, as always, we remain open on the weekends.

Catfish are being caught throughout the lake. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well for both catfish and carp.
Bass can be found around structure and respond well to shad raps, frogs, and dark colored plastics.
Crappie fishing has been decent with mostly smaller fish being caught in, and around, Boat Dock Cove. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners. They bite best in the predawn hours.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.

There is still a lot of bass schooled up and chasing silversides in open water, but they’ve been more catchable as of late as most guys are picking off a few top water fish.  The drop shot bite has been holding up as well, with 4” worms fished in 20’ to 40’ of water getting it done.  The panfish bite slowed, as there was only scattered reports of bluegill, most of these fish on the small side. ......
