The bass bite has been good lately, as many fish have moved up from the depths and are on pre-spawn to spawn mode. A lot of anglers reported as many as 10 or more fish for their efforts, and action was described as "not quite wide open, but very close." Fly-lined plastics, jigs, Texas rigs, drop shot, all produced good numbers. There were a handful of crappie caught as well, though information on the slabs was closely guarded. Red ear and bluegill not showing as of yet, and generally speaking they tend to follow the bass in the order that they spawn. Catfish went unreported to the concession last week.

Despite the cold weather, and lower water temps the bass population has been active. Most of the largemouth are males in the 1.5 range, and up on the bank providing anglers with some excellent opportunities.
