Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish the week of June 8th . The next stocking of 1,000 pounds is the week of July 6th. We will continue to stock catfish at regular intervals through October.
What’s the catch? Warm summer temperatures are keeping bass active, especially around shaded cover adjacent to the docks and deeper water. The highlight this week was an 8.45-pound Largemouth Bass landed on shiners, while another angler hooked a 7.1-pound bass on crawfish near the boat dock.
Catfish anglers are still finding steady action during the evening hours on mackerel and dip baits. Boats are seeing the best catfish action, but if you’re fishing from shore try Siesta Cove near the old boat dock.
Panfish are providing fun opportunities for young anglers around the shoreline structure near the t-dock and Half Moon Cove.
Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.
Conditions: The aerator has been turned on. Temps throughout the water column are more stable. The surface temperature around the boat dock is holding steady at 78.2 degrees. The sun is rising at 5:44 a.m. and setting at 8:00 p.m.
The next new moon falls on July 14, making the weekend beforehand ideal for night fishing. With darker skies and less moonlight, anglers can expect excellent conditions for targeting catfish.
