Dixon Lake trout fishing remains steady from its last stocking of 4,500 lbs. of trout on April 22, 2015.

Rainbow and garlic PowerBait have been the best bait for trout, followed by night crawlers infused with garlic.

Jack Creek Cove and Pier 1 have been popular fishing locations, where anglers have better luck fishing as deep into the lake as possible in boats.

Catfish fishing has also picked up traction as weather temperatures rise. Fresh shrimp is reportedly the best bait for catfish. Anglers have reported seeing extremely large catfish near Whisker Bay, who often times seem to have no interest in anglers’ bait.

Small to medium bass have made appearances as spawning season is drawing to a close. The best bait for bass have been imitation trout lures and night crawlers.

Dixon Lake rangers would like to inform the public that water levels will be adjusted to a lower scale within the next two weeks to assist in removing unnecessary vegetation near spillways. The water level will be brought down 2-3 ft. lower than its current level. Rangers do not foresee any problems with the water level being adjusted, but they do welcome visitors to bring any concerns or questions they feel necessary to staff’s attention.

Dixon Lake staff encourages anglers who qualify to take advantage of “Senior/Military Wednesdays.” Senior citizens 60 and older and military personnel are eligible to purchase $18 all day motor boats, and $12 all day row boats every Wednesday.
