Ending note

Just when things were beginning to look rather grim on our final day a two hour tour produced the results we were aiming for. I wouldn’t categorize it as a “Hail Mary” save, or anything close, but we went from zero prospects and little sign to a couple of hours of surprise steady action with one good thirty minute flurry on quality yellowfin that definitely set the day, and ending note, right.

It’s a testament to the age old strategy of refusing to give an inch even in the face of what appears to be obvious doom. One can not be defeated in principal if they go down trying. If I could begin to remember the number of times a catch, or a save, was pulled from seemingly nothing, no chance, I could write a book…

To that end another paragraph was added today. Finishing on the right note with a fine morning catch we pulled up our stakes mid afternoon, took one more good look around, and headed for the barn; the barn being the beautiful sub tropical destination of Cabo San Lucas where anglers will grab an additional day or two of down time before heading home to meet the boat Tuesday the 26th.

Good weather is in the forecast promising a smooth passage that is well earned. Photo today rightly features Royal Star angler Steve Ong who is becoming somewhat of a big fish legend on Royal Star. This chunky 267 was added to Steve’s long list of triumphs in the trophy yellowfin arena a few day’s prior.
