Due to water releases into the Delta and the recent storm fronts to
hit California the waters are stained with poor clarity. This has
caused the striped bass fishing to slow down, but it is expected to
rebound with more stable weather. On the Sacramento River side of the
Delta the waters are downright muddy with poor water clarity.  If
sturgeon fishing is on your platter stay in the Sacramento River. For
striped bass move over into the San Joaquin River where conditions
are more favorable. Trollers and bait dunkers are taking a few fish
in the six to nine pound bracket on the San Andreas Shoals, Old River
Flats and the Upper and Lower Santa Clara Shoals.Trollers are
primarily using deep-diving Yo-Zuris with a white worm trailer while
bait dunkers are tossing frozen threadfin shad.
For sturgeon head over into the West Delta and Montezuma Slough where
your chances are improved for a slot limit diamondback. Take for
instance Captain Shawn Taylor of the Barbarian ll out of Martinez
where he had a banner day fishing Montezuma Slough. He and his
clients boated 3 slot-limit sturgeon along with 8 oversized and 2
oversized while dunking salmon roe.
Boaters are advised to  be very cautious out on the Delta, because
there is tons of debris along with logs floating on or near the
surface.Boat on anchor must take extra precautions with a quick
release system or a knife to cut the anchor rope because a huge log
can sink a boat within minutes. Whatever the case be careful when
plying Delta waterways by boat.

The big fish of the week was boated by Captain Stan Koenigsberger of
Quetzal Fishing Adventures and his clients. The two fish weighed 16
and 18 pounds respectively. One was caught on frozen shad and the other, trolling. Both fish were released back into the Delta.

No big change here, bass fishing is still good all over the lake on fly-lined plastics, small swimbaits, and rip baits.  Most fish are in the 1lb to 2 lb range, with the occasional  4 to 5 lb'er showing as well. The Largemouth have been scattered from 2' to 30' water column, and are in all stages of the spawn.  Big Bluegill as well as red ear have both been on the chew, and have been eating nightcrawlers either drop......
