Another Great Day

Hi Everyone,

We awoke this morning to a calm ocean and a light, warm breeze. Again this morning, we had skipjack in the deck lights before sunrise and the guys were "catch your own, fish your own" with the big baits. At 0430 we had our first bite on the live skipjack, Dane Barriault was the angler and hooked his fish on unlimited 130# gear and literally landed a 170 pounder in about 5 minutes, a kamikazi. We picked up a handful more fish in the 140 to 180 pound range before breakfast. Our conditions changed shortly there after and we pulled the anchor and repositioned at another part of the Bank. A slow scratch on 100 to 140 pound fish for a few hours late morning. At around 1300 we started getting a bit more current and had some bigger fish come through. It was good fishing on 150 to 240 pound yellowfin tuna for a few hours, almost like a light switch was turned on. The guys were getting bit on sinker rigs with nose hooked sardines, baloon rigs, and we picked off a few nice ones on the kite. When the dust had settled, we had 3 cows on board, a 220#, a 230# and a 238# to go with a number of fish in the high one hundred pound class. It was very exciting and very busy afternoon to say the least. We picked up 2 of our cows today on the kite and were able to put our boat gear to the test. Our custom wrapped Seeker 3X5's with Avet EX80 3 speeds performed flawlessly. By far the best outfit I have seen for fighting giant yellowfin tuna. Everyone onboard is stoked with the fishing that is taking place down here. We have high hopes for tomorrow. Wish us luck, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
