A swinging strikeout today as we took a mighty rip for glory or bust. On the big tuna we came up with none but the zone scouted will undoubtedly produce huge at some time. Anchored on a bank way offshore in the middle of this ocean is a sure bet - if they are around. Today they weren’t. Our offshore effort after a solid morning of fishing on the bank produced nothing worthy of a tag or photo. Again abundant life, but the wrong size.

Undeterred we arrived in the big fish zone this region is so well known for late in the day. A little scouting and a few drifts did not produce but after dark tasty, bait size offshore squid took up space in the tanks our sardines used left behind. Speaking of sardines this load of bait is happy, lively, and strong. We are still loaded thus far using only about 1/10th of our total supply.

Tomorrow will be spent in pursuit of trophy yellowfin before we call it a voyage come day’s end. We have perfect weather and everything else we can control in our favor. Now enters the luck part of the equation. It hasn’t exactly been red hot on the big fish in the traditional areas yet this season. Let us hope that tomorrow is the exception to the rule established thus far.
