Catching the Spotlight.

Catfish and bass are still biting great here at the Lakes. Brandon Cole (left) caught this impressive 6lb. 2oz. bass out of Lake 2 this week. He caught it on a suspending jerkbait. Ryan Denha (right) tried his luck with the catfish on Friday and caught this 2lb. 4oz. channel catfish. He caught it out of Lake 3. He was using mackerel.

Our next catfish stock will be this Friday. Not all of our tagged catfish are accounted for yet so keep an eye out for one of these prize winning fish! If you have pictures of your catch here at the Lakes, please feel free to email them to me at nlobaugh@padre.org with your name, lake you caught the fish on, and the bait you used.

Lake Lowdown.

Avg. Water Temp: 70.6°F
Water Clarity: 6 ft.

The spawn bite continues with some post spawn fish cruising around. I’m getting reports of a variety of baits and lures working for these fish so now might be the time to try something new. Catfish have been very consistent. They are still biting on shrimp and mackerel.
