Catching the Spotlight.

The rainy weather kept a lot of anglers home this weekend, but the brave few who came to the park did very well. Sam Hernandez (pictured right) caught this monster trout under the bridge at Lake 2. It weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz. and was caught on rainbow Powerbait. While most anglers have been in search of big rainbow trout lately, some have been lucky enough to hook some late season catfish. Shaun Taylor (pictured left) caught this catfish while camping this weekend. He caught it on a nightcrawler/Powerbait combo.

If you catch a Trout over 5 lbs., remember to bring it up to the park office. We will enter you into a raffle to win a free two night vacation in one of our cabins! The drawing will be done on April 1st, so there’s still plenty of time to catch the big one and get entered.

Bring the kids out this Saturday for the annual Kiwanis Fishing Derby. The event will be from 7:00AM to 11:00AM. bring your own fishing gear.

Lake lowdown.

Not as many reports coming in this week because of the weather. The anglers who did brave the storm this week mostly used a Powerbait/nightcrawler combo.

Campers were bringing in a good number of Trout out of Lake 6 this weekend. As for the Day Use park, Lake 2 saw the most action. Anglers took shelter under the Mast bridge, taking advantage of the good fishing while staying dry.
