BASS

Bass were spotted off many of the points this weekend. Cast off Sentry Point and Eagle Point!

TROUT

The Trout Opener is this Saturday! The lake opens at 6 a.m. for the start of trout season. Boats will be available on a first come, first served basis. Skip the line by pre-purchasing fishing permits or boat launches this week at the campground kiosk!

1,700 lbs. of Rainbow trout will be stocked this week from Wrights Rainbows in Idaho. Some trout will be tagged— prizes include camping or fishing packages.

The lake will be closed on Friday, November 18th.

CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Patsy and Richard Bates were fishing in Hermit Cove early Sunday morning and caught 5 catfish in just over 2 hours! They were using shrimp as bait.

Larry reeled in catfish from the T-dock early on Friday morning. He also caught two catfish on Saturday in Hermit Cove weighing 5 and 6 lbs.

TROUT FISHING TIPS

Mini jigs are an all-purpose lure, working effectively on trout, bass, crappie, and bluegill. For Lake Jennings, a typical setup for trout is 4 lbs. test with a 1/16 oz. jig. If you have trouble casting such a light jig, attached a bobber 5-6 ft. above the jig.

Try a variety of methods; shaking or vertical jigging to get the fish to strike. Sometimes the rod only needs to be raised 2 inches, other times up to 2 feet. Popular jig colors for trout season are pink, orange, and chartreuse. All purpose colors are pearl and gray.
